The Smile

“Don’t smile at me like that.” She said

“Like what?” He asked.

“Like you’re about to steal my heart and everything that comes with it away.”

That’s when she thought about all the smiles she came across that ressembled that one. The smiles that were the beginning of it. The “it” that pushed her to feel things which eventually lead to pain she never wanted to experience. And yet it happened, over and over again.

But this time, she could not let it start. And suddenly she no longer cared about the risk that maybe this one was different. That maybe his smile ressembled the rests’ only on a surface level.

At least that’s what she told herself.
